Question Your Thoughts
A Minute or More…
Today, take a minute (or more) and question your thoughts. There is a lot of conflicting data about how many thoughts a day most of us have. Truthfully, just like many things, it is most likely different for everyone. Estimates are in the tens of thousands. Even more disturbing than how many thoughts we have is the estimation that about 80% or more are negative or repetitive. Putting pen to paper to purge the thoughts is an excellent exercise to tame our thoughts. If we have a recurring thought — we can write it down and question that thought. Why are we thinking that? What time of day do we usually think it? Where did the thought originate? How can we change that thought? Doing this journal exercise before meditation can set up our mind for a more peaceful and clear meditation. Go ahead, today, tame your thoughts for just a minute.
