Practice “Truth Speak”
Today, take a minute (or more) and practice “truth speak.”
Kahlil Gibran said, “Between what is said and not meant and what is meant and not said, most love is lost.”
I would add “and what is spoken but misunderstood.”
For some, words drop easily from their mouths.
And for others, words stay stuck on their tongues.
And then worse — words are spoken and received and interpreted through a complex labyrinth of past experiences, childhood trauma, and assumed intention.
I often wonder what the world would be if all words spoken were carefully crafted — and mindfully and thoughtfully received.
What if, rather than assumptions — words were allowed to settle in until they were accurately understood?
What if we allowed ourselves the luxury of sharing our words of truth without fear of loss or recrimination?
Think about that for a minute.
