Lose Your Thoughts for a Moment
Today, take a minute (or more) for an interlude.
Our thoughts and only our thoughts prevent us from being present in the moment.
When others are talking — our minds may race ahead completing their sentences.
When we eat, we may barely taste our food as we plan the day ahead or replay what has transpired.
I often find even my yoga session is overshadowed by intrusive thinking.
Ah, and my meditations. There are times when I must tap, chant, and focus on my breathing simultaneously — just to push away the thoughts.
Just to get a few glorious moments of nothingness.
I’ve been working on this removal of thoughts for years — I’ve been through a few cycles when I achieved it — but it was fleeting. What can we do to quiet the mind and rest in the moment?
Writing can help. Letting the thoughts flow for a while. As I mentioned, chanting mantras work well. It will always be a work in progress, but something to continuously strive towards.
Rumi said, “Look past your thoughts so you can drink the pure nectar of this present moment.”
