Let Life Unfold
October 12 — Mindful Minute
Today, take a minute (or more) and let life unfold gently. I understand the urgency. Life is short. It is unpredictable. Our natural urge is to blast through it like a fireball forcing ourselves to achieve everything swiftly. As we propel ourselves vigorously through each stage of our life, we often forget to pause and reflect. We often forget to notice. We may forget to connect with others. We may forget to listen. We’re just too dang busy getting through the stages of our lives. The degrees, the relationships, the children, our careers. We have timelines. Then comes the frustrations. Sometimes, we hit a curveball. It may be illness — divorce — financial ruin. Suddenly our timeline is wrecked. Nothing is as it was. These types of detours often occur in mid-life. This is when we need to pause. This is when we need to pull back. This is when we need to allow the next stage to unfold gently. These mid-life crises are challenging. As it is during this time in our lives when we feel the clock ticking even more loudly than before. However, this is the time to relax. This is the time to allow our life to unfold gently until finally, we are in full bloom.
