Get Out of the Dang Waiting Room

Today, take a minute (or more) and think about the “waiting room.”

Typically, the waiting room is a place where we sit and fret.

We hang out there waiting to hear the news of a loved one’s surgery or wait with trepidation to get in the dental chair.

However, the waiting room is often the place where we spend much of our lives.

We will wait to buy a house until we find our partner, we will wait to start a business until we have more money, and we will wait until we retire to start a hobby or travel.

Most of that waiting is also wrapped up in trepidation — fear about what will happen if we deviate from what is expected of us — of what is the societal norm.

What we don’t often acknowledge is that we are only guaranteed today — time is shorter than we can ever imagine.

The time to stop waiting and begin action is now.

It is today.
