Beware of Your Imagination

I love the word “imagination.”

It conjures up images of childhood wonder and possibilities.

However, it can also be insidious and daunting.

Often our imagination is used to create problems and worst-case scenarios.

We may use it as a vessel to find things to worry about — even going as far as to imagine the kind of apocalyptic tales found in dystopian novels.

This is a good argument for living in the moment — as it serves no purpose to sit around and pontificate about a fantastical future of gloom.

This kind of imagination is detrimental to our health — causing stress and all the conditions caused by stress.

Another disastrous use of imagination is the transference to worry about our loved ones.

We must trust and allow others to live their lives without our harmful interference and catastrophizing.

Looking for triggers is an excellent first step to eliminating destructive thoughts.

It may be the news — it may be social media — it may be other people.

Live in the moment.

Trust.

Love.

Let it be.
