Become Aware of Your Tipping Point

Today, take a minute (or more) and think about the tipping point.

I often write about balance as I truly believe it is one of the major things to strive for.

Yet, for many of us, there is a tipping point when we fall into excess.

It may be the second glass of wine that has us reaching for a third.

It may be that first taste of sugar that is the impetus for eating half a cake.

It may be not getting up when we first wake up and instead going back to sleep until we feel lethargic all day.

I’m reading “The Yamas and the Niyamas.” The fourth Yama is Brahmacharya or non-excess.

Deborah Adele explains that most excess stems from trying to fill a hole or connecting certain acts with emotional states.

Whatever the cause, the truth is that we are a nation of excess.

Just a whole bunch of people stuffing whatever they can into the big gaping hole.

Adele says, “When gratitude and wonder sit in the heart, there is no need for excess.”

It’s something to work on — finding gratitude, wonder, and balance.
