Today, take a minute (or more) and choose. As you go through your day, listen to the thoughts rolling around in your head. Do you hear the words, “I should” or “I choose?” Choosing comes from your heart and your soul. Should comes from your past conditioning based on what others expect or want from you or for you. When we live from our heart — we know what we want or choose to do — and we veer away from what we “should do.” Choose over should is freedom. Choose over should releases guilt. Choose over should is awareness. Choose over should is action. Replace should with want — and see if it resonates. This is the path to clarity. Instead of saying, “I should do yoga every day,” you might say, “I want to do yoga every day because it makes me feel stronger.” If you really “want” to, then work towards that “want,” in lieu of being guilty from the perspective of should. When we use the word should — it is as if we want to feel or be someone other than ourselves. “Sven Eriksson said, “To wish you were someone else is to waste the person you are.” Choose to shine a little brighter (as your true self) each day. Pass the glow.
