August 12 — Mindful Minute

Today, take a minute (or more) and say the truth. How often do we dance around the truth — tiptoe around the fragile eggshells of feelings that we are afraid to shatter? Isn’t it true that so many of our relationships are as delicate as torn petals prone to bruising? Isn’t it true that many of our relationships sit upon crumbling foundations atop powder puffs of comforting lies? It reminds me of the Fleetwood Mac lyrics, “Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.” Yes, the truth is a grey messenger — a messenger who shatters illusions. Yet, how can we have growth and strength with our loved ones if we are afraid to reveal what we see? And don’t we also want the truth revealed to us. It is true that “the truth will set you free.” However, many of us will never look beneath the veil of our own illusion or sometimes delusion. That’s one beautiful aspect of children. Usually, they don’t hold back and are not afraid to put the truth on the table to their parents. If we have offered our children the security of unconditional love, they will often become our most cherished messengers of truth. Buddha said, “Three things cannot be long hidden, the sun, the moon and the truth.” Say the truth and pass the glow.🌞🌙
